R-WALL is a software product for assessment of stability and design of the reinforced masonry retaining walls.

The software is based on a standard analytical approach, which follows AS 4678 - 2002, AS3600-2009 and AS3700-2011 for stability assessment, and design of the concrete base and the masonry.

Overview

R-WALL software provides a simple user interface, which allows the user to choose from one of the four pre-defined retaining wall types, and specify the design parameters. Once, all input data are entered, the user can perform analytical check for the stability and strength. The stability check includes overturning, sliding and load bearing failure of the base. The strength includes check of the stem and the concrete base.

The design follows the ultimate limit state principle. It takes into consideration the following ultimate limit state modes:

  1. Limit Mode U1: Sliding within or at the base of the retaining structure
  2. Limit Mode U2: Rotation of the structure
  3. Limit Mode U3: Rupture of components (cantilever failure)
  4. Limit Mode U6: Bearing failure

(Refer to the AS 4678-2002 Clause 3.2)
