(more...) 09/03/2004 There is a new version of the meshing module for SLABS. This is applicable only for the use exporting to SLABS form R/C BUILDING. In R/C BUILDING the walls do not have to start and end at the slab panel corner. The old meshing module in SLABS was not able to handle this situation. To install the update, just download and run the file below. 11/02/2004 There is a new update of R/C BUILDING software, including updated manual and columns and shear walls design, column auto labelling, and displaying different slab thicknesses and pressure in different colours. Also, there is a new feature "DXF Reference Lines Import", which can be used for a quick and accurate import of slab geometry from a CAD file. There is a new analytical feature: Frequency Analysis. Now, the first three Natural Periods of free vibrations in both orthogonal directions can be evaluated. Any supported user may contact INDUCTA for the update. 11/06/2002 There is a new version of R-WALL v2 software, which follows AS 4678-2002. 23/05/2002 SLABS software has special feature to rotate the reinforcement and bending moment results for an arbitrary angle. In some cases, this feature might not provide reliable results. It is highly recommended to do manual check of the reinforcement result for slabs on angle. A problem related to calculation of the perimeter of circular column used in punching shear check was discovered. Please, contact INDUCTA for download of the current version of SLABS. 18/06/2001 SLABS v3.0 is coming soon. It will include all necessary modifications related to the new design code AS 3600-2001. The upgrade will be supplied free of charge to all supported users. Non-supported users have to purchase the upgrades on a higher price. Please, check whether you are under support agreement. 05/05/2001 SLABS can display background image from another SLABS data file. This new feature is useful when several floors of a building are modelled in order to transfer the reactions from one floor to another. For instance, once the first floor is modelled and saved, it can be shown as a background image when the floor above is modelled. The user will generate the floor above, while the floor below is visible as a background image. 16/03/2001 SLABS can display slab shear force in any point of the slabs. To use this feature, show some bending moment results, press letter "s" on the keyboard and click on any point on the slab. 07/01/2001 SLABS can use WordPad instead of Notepad to view reaction and beam results. This allows easier formatting of the file for better print reports. 20/11/2000 R/C Column v3.0 software has two new features: M-N Interaction Diagram and Different Effective Lengths on X and Y direction. It can be used to group several beam segments on the same line, in order to obtain one result report for all the beams in the group. This feature helps to review beam results easier. 17/08/2000 R/C Column software can design column in tension and bi-axial bending. Also, besides steel grade 400 and 500 any other steel grade can be used. 08/08/2000 Frequency analysis of slab systems. This new feature in SLABS can be used to calculate the dominant mode shape and corresponding natural frequency and period. Contact INDUCTA for the upgrade. 22/06/2000 BEAM software was modified to show 0.8Mu, the reduced ultimate bending moment. (0.8 is the strength reduction factor for bending). Download from: NEWB.EXE. 01/06/2000 Export to FEAR. Prepare the model in SLABS, export the data, and run FEAR (Finite Element Analysis of Rafts). FEAR software provides the most advanced settlement solution, where the soil is treated as a layered material and each layer may have different elastic properties. The raft and soil geometry and loading can be generated using the graphical SLABS interface, and the data are exported to FEAR. Results of the analysis can be viewed graphically. 15/05/2000 Pile supports, for slab-on-ground are included. 07/04/2000 Equivalent Soil Stiffness can be calculated from actual soil properties. For each layer three parameters are required: Thickness, Modulus of Elasticity and Poisson's Ratio. Then, the software will calculated an equivalent soil stiffness, which can be used for slab-on-ground analysis. The equivalent soil stuffiness represents the mechanical properties of all layers. 03/04/2000 Better Meshing algorithm for SLABS has been developed. The new meshing module will produce finite elements of similar size, which will result in faster analysis and more accurate results. (download new mesh, and run the file NEW-MESH.EXE to install the update) 31/03/2000 SLABS 2.30 Download. Please, contact INDUCTA for download of the current version of SLABS. This version includes all modifications listed below. 38/03/2000 Punching Shear perimeter calculation has been improved. Now, the program can calculate more precisely shear perimeter around columns at the edge of the slab. 13/03/2000 Beam Envelope Result function is improved. Now the program will list all negative and all positive moments, and the corresponding reinforcement in all nodal point in the beams. Please, contact INDUCTA for update. 10/03/2000 A new function Reaction Tag is introduced. When the reactions are imported, they are tagged, so they can be distinguished from the existing line and point loads. This function can be used to shift and delete only imported reactions, when there is some other loads. Please, contact INDUCTA for update. 07/03/2000 A new tool Find Gaps is introduced. It can be used to identify gaps in the model. When editing the model, some small gaps, say 20 to150mm, between the corners and the slab edges, may be generated. This may cause a "Negative Pivot" error during the analysis. Please, contact INDUCTA for further details. 19/01/2000 There is an update of SLABS 2.30 in the calculation of deflection using the cracked section. In the Cracked Section input panel there is an input parameter, which can be used to set the upper limit of the effective moment of inertia of the slab and beam sections: Ieff<K*Igross, where K is a factor entered by the user, say 0.7 or 0.8. This option provides better control in the serviceability design. Please, contact INDUCTA for the update. 11/01/2000 There is an update of the Bitmap Input function of SLABS 2.30. The new feature can be used to reload a new Input as many times as necessary. The new bitmap will replace the existing one. The scales of the existing and the new bitmap must be the same. Once the bitmap us unloaded from the model, a new one cannot be loaded, since the scaling factors are not known. Please, contact INDUCTA for the update. 04/01/2000 R/C Column 1.40 upgrade is available for all users who have purchased the software. The difference from Version 1.3 is the additional option to enter the Critical Buckling Ration for unbraced columns. This will allow the user to calculate the Critical Buckling Ration by some other frame analysis program, and enter its value in the R/C Column program. Please, contact INDUCTA for an updated copy of R/C Column. 15/12/1999 SLABS 2.30 is available for download. List of new features. 11/11/1999 A problem was discovered in the calculation of the minimum areas of shear reinforcement in beams. Please, contact INDUCTA for download of the current version of SLABS. 27/10/1999 A problem was discovered in the reactions module. The program was not able to calculate reaction of the line load over the walls when static analysis method was used. This is used in automatic calculation of the self weight of the walls. This problem did not effect the reactions calculation of any other loading. Only user who has received the installation CD or downloaded the software between 30/07/1999 to 26/10/1999 are effected. Please, contact INDUCTA for download of the current version of SLABS. 07/06/1999 A problem related to calculation of the bending moments in columns was detected. This will effect only columns with a high aspect ratio of the cross section. For instance, a column 400x500 will not be affected, but a column 200x1,500 will be affected. To fix this, you should download SLABS 2.30, below. |
