Beam Design and User-Defined Reinforcement
SLB and PTD include a comprehensive, new module that provides the user with a detailed beam design output.
The beam design module can be used to design longitudinal steel and ties for shear and torsion for ordinary beams (SLB) and band beams (SLB, PTD). Each beam section is designed separately considering the calculated force envelope, minimum moment requirements and any additional longitudinal tensile forces caused by shear and torsion. Results are tabulated and displayed graphically as either concise or detailed outputs. A detailed report can be produced per beam section showing the entire calculation procedure.
Automatically designed reinforcement results can be rationalised and optimised within the SLB software. A new range of input and editing tools, both graphical and tabular along with detailed reports can assist in producing the most accurate and economical beam design. Any user-defined reinforcement is checked to all requirements of AS 3600 for strength, shear, torsion and detailing. Crack widths can also be calculated.
